Hi: How amazing that you have photos of Iwo Jima. Are they of the island from the ship or on the island? Up until about 10 years ago we did not know where Harry's ship was when he died and to find out it was off of Iwo Jima and that he was a UDT that was pretty amazing. I bet your grandfather...
I also notice on your posting that your wrote NCDU - do you know if this is a different group of men that the UDT group they would have been int? Since we have Harry in both I am guessing that is the case but I was just wondering?

Harry T. Blanot is pictured on the far right with his hand on his hip; the postcard photo we have states that this was taken after their last mission before he was killed on February 18, 1945.
A postcard we found in papers my mother has says this photos was taken a few days after the ship had been attacked and killed our uncle, Harry Blanot and so many others.

Harry Blanot was born in Arriba Colorado in a sod house with my grandmother Leona Stewart and his two brothers, Tressie and Jessie. Harry was 26 when he died. He was married to Mary Graham Blanot. Harry was a 1936 graduate of Boulder High School, Boulder Colorado.
