CITATION:

British Empire Medal : S/Sgt Andrews joined the LRDG in early 1941 and was a member of a patrol constantly working behind enemy lines in Libya. Since then he has risen through the ranks and for the past year has been Quartermaster Sgt of the Rhodesian Squadron which has carried out over 60 successful operations in the Balkans. The complexity of the stores required and the fact that they have been delivered to patrols by air, sea and land has called for the highest standard of supply organisation. S/Sgt Andrews has been responsible for these arrangements and his cheerful and willing determination to work extremely long hours under all sorts of conditions has been worthy of the highest praise and far above what would be demanded of him in the course of normal duty.
