CITATION:

Member of the Order of the British Empire : PERIODIC AWARD

Q.M.S. Brown took part in the AKYAB, MYEBON landings. Throughout these operations when not engaged in Unit Documentation he played an active part in helping to bring forward supplies often under enemy fire. At KAGNAW in particular Q.M.S. Brown did his work at the foot of Hill 170 with a cool and efficient oblivion for the considerable enemy shelling. Throughout these operations his conduct in the field was equalled only by the efficiency and despatch which have been the mark of all his work for nearly five years.

Q.M.S. Brown is a foundation member of No 1 Commando, having joined the H.Q. BODO in May 1940 and then transferred to No.1.Commando when the Independent Companies were re-organised into Commandos. He has now served the Commando for nearly five years in the capacity of Chief Clerk and those five years have been an unbroken record of able and un----- service to the unit.

He served through the NORWEGIAN Campaign from 13th May to 3rd June 1940 and through the NORTH AFRICAN Campaign from 7th November 1942 to 23rd April 1943.
