LCDR Condon was the commanding officer of Underwater Demolition Team TWELVE (UDT 12). At 0749 hours an Armored Troop Carrier (ATC) T-112-1 (a.k.a. Landing Craft Medium/LCM) was struck by two B-40 rocket propelled grenades (RPG-2), while on a blocking station at the confluence of Ong Buong Stream and the Ben Tre River, six miles southeast of Ben Tre, Giong Trom District, Kien Hoa Province, Republic of Vietnam. One B-40 rocket fired from a RPG-2 hit the ramp and penetrated it. The explosion killed LCDR Condon instantly wounded one crewmember. UDT 12 had been in-country to observe the evaluation of the new "Aqua Dart," which his men were testing.</em></span></p></blockquote><p></p>
