John A. Kelting

J.A.Kelting crash landed a Kittyhawk P40e at Tenterfield N.S.W.Australia on 7th may 1942.The aircraft caught fire and Kelting was trapped by his harness and lost conciencenous .An elderly Australian farmer witnessed the crash bounded from his ,horse, jumped afence and pulled Kelting out of the blazing aircraft, then dragged him away by the legs to safety. By this time some military personnel arrived and conveyed Kelting to Tenterfield Hospital.The rescuer Owen Mcosker then proceeded on his way home remarking he would "just have time to milk hiscows before dark"
