CITATION:

George Medal : On the night of 2nd September, 1956, a part of the Government Printing Establishment in Cyprus was destroyed by a bomb. A second suspected bomb was seen in a hole beneath a machine. On being called, Sergeant PROUDLOCK entered the building, from which all others had been withdrawn, and, although he could reach the bomb with only one hand, removed it and carried it outside. He then extracted the time pencil, in spite of the fact that it was jammed. The bomb was powerful and very dangerous for it might have exploded at any time. Sergeant PROUDLOCK well knew this.

Sergeant PROUDLOCK has disarmed fourteen time bombs. He has been on call by night and by day and has never failed to perform, his difficult and dangerous duties with courage and devotion.
