it is beleived andy was deliberatly targeted for capture because of some of his reports to do with supplies of certain U.S. equipment.he was unarmed when captured and was murdered whilst asleep from exhaustion.

contrary to tony gehrattys claims in his latest book :guns for hire: andy was not a serving member of 21 when he was murdered in afgan by those cowardly scumbags.i felt sorry for his mum as she survived auswitz only to have her husband murdered by the soviets , and then to loose popski.
