OPERATION:
11st April 1945 eight ZSU commandos departed on board HMAS HDML 1321 from Aitape Harbour, Papua New Guinea.

The commandos made landfall night of 11st April. On the 12th April they managed to capture a Japanese prisoner, but unfortunately encountered a Japanese patrol on their return to their boats. Four commandos (Lt. Gubbay, Lt. Barnes, L/CPL Walklate & Pvt Eagleton) escaped and later managed to have unsuccessful raft launch and then tried to contact Allied forces, but were never seen again. The four remaining commandos remained on the island, but encountered a Japanese patrol on the 14th April. Three commandos were killed (Sgt. Weber, Sig. Hagger & Sig. Chandler).
