Albie Kiwi was trained as an officer in Portsea,Australia.Came home (Christchurch,NZ) around 1962 to Burnham. He was in Terendak Camp Malacca in 1965, I think he was on a break from Borneo or on his way there. In April 1967 he was in Papakura camp where he had his first freefall from a plane. He was in Singapore June 1967 during the nam war.

Hi People, Alby was our half brother same Dad different Mums.Alby always wrote to Dad
and us younger siblings and in his letters he detailed as much as he could about the wars
he was involved in. Dad kept the letters in a trunk up until he passed away in July 83.
Silly me not knowing anything or better put them to the tip. What a lot of history he detailed in his letters. Im so sad I did not keep his letters and donate to the Museum.
Cant say which sister I am but my other whanau would know who.

I have only just seen this. Albi was my best friend when we served together in Simmanggang, Sarawak in 1965. We stayed in touch and I hitched out to NZ in 1969 and stayed with him at Whenuapai, but a few years late lost contact. If anybody can tell me anymore about what happened I would be very grateful. I’ve photos of him taken in Sarawk if anybody would like copies please let me know.

I knew Albi at Whenuapai along with his dog SAS. I was also good friends with his brother Steve we have lost contact anybody who knows where Steve is would love to contact.

Kia ora, I'm Ted Wright ex RNZAF PTSU. Alby was our Trg Officer at Whenuapai in my time. During his later period of service with SAS he was outstanding. How ever, Alby later resigned from the Army, after he was treated unfairly over an issue. I next met him at the Australian Parachute School, where he was doing a great job. By then he was married and happy. He later died when a group of free fallers were not released in the correct spot. He landed in a river area, and did not survive. Loss of a great Kiwi, and example to us all.

Hello - As his niece it’s lovely to read of others relationship with Alby. I am the daughter of his brother Steve Kiwi who is still with us today. Natasha Kiwi.
