Hello, i have a question about Jack Kuhn.
I know that he was awarded of a Silver Star in Normany, but as you mention 2 Siver stars, where and when did he earned the second one ?

Hi Marc, the only place i see he was awarded 2 x Silver Stars was his obituary. It also mentions British Medal of Valor which doesn't exist so possibly an error with the Silver Star listing too.
 
Jack E. Kuhn, 83, 1010 12th st., formerly of 1607 Kissel ave., died Sunday evening, Dec. 1, 2002, at Altoona Hospital. He was born June 10, 1919, in Altoona, a son of the late Howard L. and Clara M. (Smith) Kuhn. He married Mary A. Robb, Sept. 10, 1941, in Winchester, Va. She died Feb. 24, 1989. Mr. Kuhn retired as Chief of police from the Altoona Police Department in 1976, serving in that capacity for thee years and he had been a member of the police force since 1947. He also retired in June 2002, as a van driver for Altoona Area School District. He was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, Altoona. Mr. Kuhn was a 1937 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Kuhn served in the Army with Company D, 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion, during World War II, and participated in the assault at Omaha Beach, Normandy, France, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He received two Silver stars, a Bronze star, a Croix De Guerre (France) and the British Medal of Valor. He was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. He also served as a gunnery sergeant for amphibious recon., 2nd Marine Div., FMS, in the Marine Corps, during the Korean conflict. Surviving are three children: Arlene K. and husband, John DeArment, of Altoona; Jack E. II and wife, Karen, of Coatesville and Lorna Sue of Altoona; four grandchildren: three gr. grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Hynson of Middletown, Del., and Della Boyd of Moneta, Va.; and special friend, Lucille Davis and her family. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Craig, who died Sept. 30, 1993. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the New Life Family Worship Center, Old Route 220 at Pinecroft. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the worship center by the Rev. Rich Maher. Graveside military services will be held at Alto-Reste Park. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make contributions to Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, Building Fund, 3003 Wlanut ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
