I served with dinger in 2 para and the Regiment I was in the scrum of guys who waved the chinook off. Me and dinger go back a long way. He's nickname was made in 2 para it means dinger or ring the bell for a boxing match knock out. He was good at milling or boxing in 2 para. I last had a pint with dinger in 1992 with Andy mcnab in Hereford. 30 years ago I was 30. The reason he's not written a book is he's not the type and he signed the confidentiality contract in the 1990s because he served I think until 1999. Contrary to belief he's far from skint we earn enough in private wages and back handers mcnabs millions of sales from bravo were pure luck because everyone bought everyone it for Christmas presents and did the same with immediate action and again with bravo for the readers who hadn't read the first one and vice versa.

what everybody needs to ask themselves on is: could I pass SAS selection? and could I pass SBS selection? well bugger me senseless I will admit it: I could not pass SAS or SBS selection.im not beating about the bush here I'll tell you straight and honestly I could not pass SAS or SBS selection. Full stop. It's too hard. The whole process especially the fricking test week that damn Bergen and rain the jungle it all bent me over and buggered me senseless .In 1989 I attempted SAS selection I made it to the jungle phase because I just legged it through the first four weeks because I was crapping myself so much it was fear what made me pass test week. After two weeks in the jungle in Brunei I stopped eating and told the ds I wanted home because I was leaving the army full stop. when I got back to the kingos I bought myself out . I'm still unemployed now . so basically to be in the SAS or SBS you have to be special hence the name Special Air Special Boat. This forum members like this respectful gent above I've got total respect for them because I know what they are capable of. Look at him captured by Saddam's army and all that still doing it and serving again going back for more I've read the commander of its book I've got total respect for them.
