Undoubtedly Trooper Tobin deserved the DCM or indeed a higher award, however, I cannot find any award for him listed in the LG. As far as I am aware, this is an ongoing battle 50 years after Mirbat! Time to start the campaign again?

Originally recommended for a MiD, the army haggled over what award could be issued. This conversation raged for some time from a QC to a BEM. Eventually it appears that he died before anything was awarded and so he appears to have ended up with nothing! Another example of a convert campaign...

Originally recommended for a Military Cross by CO SAS for operations in Oman (Dhofar), strongly supported by Brig. Comm., Div. Comm and Army Comm. However, unfairly reduced to Mention in Dispatches (MiD) by MoD, published in the London Gazette on 27 Nov 1973.
