DOUGLAS A-26A INVADER (REGISTRATION: 64-17650)
On June 28, 1966, an A-26 Invader (tail number 64-17650, call sign "Nimrod 34") with three crew members took part in a two-plane combat mission over Laos. While making its run over the target, the Invader was hit by ground fire, which caused the aircraft to crash. Witnesses from other aircraft on the mission reported seeing no parachutes emerge from "Nimrod 34" before it hit the ground and exploded. The aircraft’s crew was not seen or heard from again, and the enemy presence in the loss area prevented a ground investigation of the crash site.
