Wilson Couch Koehler

Wil Koehler and I went through our Special Forces training together in 1968. We were being trained as U. S. Army Special Forces Medical Specialists. The training program was forty-eight weeks.

Wil and I served together in the 6th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg, NC until mid-summer of 1969. At that time we volunteered to serve in Viet Nam.

Wil and I went to Viet Nam together in September, 1969. We went through the 5th Special Forces Group Combat Orientation course at Hon Tre Island, and then we were separated, going to different Special Forces A-Teams. Wil went to A-108 in I Corps, I went to A-341 in III Corps.

I never saw him again.

His death was totally senseless and I hate, to this day, the individual responsible.

Wil was a great guy, and a humorous and very intelligent friend.

I miss him.

I think about him often, and remind my friends on The Special Forces List, an internet group six hundred strong, of his death every year during the month of its anniversary.

Rest easy Wil. We still love and think highly of you, as you deserve.
