Thanks David and Bob. I know very little about my Gt grandperants apart that she was Russian and that Richard is mentioned in many books as having somthing to do with Vickers. In the book Triplex, secrets from the Cambridge spies a 1943 KGB file on Biffy by Elena Modrzhinskaya who was a top KGB expert on the UK at the time says that Richard was the Former manager of the vickers works in Kronstadt and Biffys mother was Countess Demidov.Neather of witch i have been able to conferm. Also in Biffys obituarie it says that richard had somthing to do with the Canadian built Subs that went on to be the Russian AG class. They were shiped in kit form and transported across russia by rail and Richard sent Biffy aged only 16 as escort and interpreter. Other books say that Biffys dad was a ship owner. All i know for shure is that He died in Pietermaritzburg in 1946 in a nursing home I have had a look on Ancestry.co.uk many thanks Chris
