CITATION:

Croix de Guerre with Silver Star : From the ?? of June until the fall of XXXXX this officer with his patrol worked with the VIII U.S. XXXXX. The operations of the Corps secured the Brittany peninsula and Brest for the Allies. Lt. Borman's initiative and self-reliance ensured that communications were maintained during this very extended operation. Vital information was regularly obtained and passed to the ?upper? command. Some of the success of the naval and air bombardments resulted from the accuracy, speed and infallibility of these signals.

Frequently in harassing circumstances, sometimes under enemy fire and always for very long periods of time his skill and judgement enabled the patrol to reach the highest degree of efficiency. The success of the operation which culminated in the capture of Brest is, in some measure, due to the unfailing wireless link which Lt. Borman kept open.
