I am a researcher for the British Normandy Memorial Trust and I am researching this Royal Marine. The name of this Royal Marine is not Donovan, even though there is an old certificate saying so. His real name is Donald and I have the baptism to show and also I wrote to the CWGC to ask the question and this is their reply: -

Dear Mavis,

Many thanks for your email.

I can only believe that the name 'Donovan' written on the certificate was an error, as the Final Verification Form, signed by his family, states that his name was Donald. The certificate is quite old, so I would recommend using the most up-to-date copy, which I have attached.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,

Kerry

Thanks Mavis, i've ammended his middle name to show Donald. That matches the British Army & Navy record of death for him.
Best regards, Craig
