CITATION:
Bronze Star : Staff Sergeant (then Private First Class), 509th Parachute Infantry, for heroic action on 6 June 1944 near ###, FRANCE. Staff Sergeant BREISCH, company clerk, volunteered to evacuate the severely wounded from the dangerous area near the *** Bridge by means of a jeep. The proximity of enemy small arms and artillery and consideration for the comfort of the wounded, made this a very hazardous task. Neverless, Staff Sergeant BREISCH evacuated eighteen wounded men over a five mile stretch of bad roadway very often subjected to heavy shell fire. Staff Sergeant BREISCH's courage and devotion to duty reflected credit on himself and the United States Airborne Forces.
