Uncle Lewis was killed at Salerno, Italy during World War II. He had just made his rank of Lieutenant in the U. S. before being shipped to Italy.​

He married Helen Rachak in Colorado. They had no children.​

He was loved by all his family and is missed to this day.​

Lewis grew up on the Judson Mill Village in Greenville County and was the son of Lewis Burgan Case, Sr. and Roxie Hollingsworth Case. ​
