Distinguished Flying Medal : As wireless operator /air gunner this airman has taken part in a very large number of sorties. He
has at all times proved himself to be a most re-liable member of aircraft crew and his skilful work has contributed materially to the successes obtained. Flight Sergeant Charlton has set a fine example of devotion to duty.

Flt Sgt Christopher William CHARLTON (971845)​

This gentleman was my grandfather,he had many close shaves with death and lost many friends in his time in the RAF.He was also in the goldfish club after being shot down and ditching in the bay of biscay in the 1st successful ditching of a Halifax.
