CITATION:

British Empire Medal : In the S.W.P.A. between the 24th October 1943 and 11th January 1944 Sgt. Dolby was a member of a party engaged on a secret intelligence mission for G.H.Q. Sgt. Dolby showed marked leadership and took the place of the 2 i/c of the party (Lieutenant) who fell out sick. This N.C.O. displayed great initiative at all times, besides being extremely resourceful. He led a patrol 50 miles into enemy occupied territory and for the 10 days evaded capture while he secured much information, valuable to the Allied cause.

At all times when engaged on party work Sgt. Dolby has inspired his men by reason of his courage and determination to overcome opposition.
