Died of septicaemia and pyaemia on 2 June 1944 in No. 91 Indian General Hospital following Operation Thursday, the second Chindit penetration operation of the Burma Campaign.

Originally buried at Sylhet Military Cemetery, his remains were reinterred on 12 November 1946 at Gauhati War Cemetery, India
