CITATION:
Bronze Star : First Lieutenant, 505th Parachute Infantry for heroic action on 30 April 1945 about two miles from ***, GERMANY. First Lieutenant EVERETT, platoon leader, exposed himself time and again to intense small arms and 20mm fire in order to maneuver his squads and platoon to completely knock out enemy fire. When initially pinned down by superiority of enemy fire, First Lieutenant EVERETT personally manned a machine gun and neutralized the fire, allowing his platoon to move forward and rout the enemy. As the fighting progressed, First Lieutenant EVERETT was continuously exposed at the head of his platoon. His courageous leadership enabled them to accomplish their mission with a minimum of casualties and was in keeping with the most honored traditions of the United States Airborne Forces.
