ROLL OF HONOUR:
https://www.specialforcesroh.com/index.php?threads/germain-irvin-l.4784/CITATION:
Silver Star : Technician Fifth Grade IRVIN L. GERMAIN, 36314276, MD, Ranger Infantry Battalion, for gallantry in action in Germany between 2 March 1945 and 3 March 1945. Technician GERMAIN, ambulance driver, was assigned the mission of evacuating patients from his battalion aid station to a clearing station near SERRIG. Transporting critically wounded men, he drove his vehicle fearlessly over roads subjected to heavy enemy artillery and machine gun fire. Twice when bullets riddled the tires and motor of his ambulance, Technician GERMAIN, disdaining his personal safety, boldly exposed himself to make the necessary repairs and to reach his destination. On the following day as he prepared to leave the aid station with a load of casualties, Technician GERMAIN was killed by hostile shell-fire. His conspicuous bravery, steadfast determination and supreme devotion to duty were inspirational to all who served with him and brought the highest credit upon himself and the Army of the United States.
