Gunston was my father's commanding officer at Taranto. My father was SSM J Alcock. Ironically I married a girl from Chipping Sodbury. I came from Yorkshire and met her in Bristol when I was a student there. I often pass the Petit france when going down there.

The Petit France is a cluster of two or three houses on the road to Tetbury/Stroud from Bath. Local people have told me that the name comes from when French prisoners where housed there from the Napoleonic wars. Two of the properties have been converted now to B&Bs.
