Good afternoon all,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the community and to thank John for giving me a login.

I am researching Operation Loyton and have a keen interest in all those members of 2SAS, Phantom and Jedburgh Jacob who served on the mission, as well as associated French and Germans. I am also interested in Operation Pistol (particularly where it overlaps with Loyton), four SOE women who were executed at Natzweiler-Struthof and the SAS team that investigated the crimes after the war.

I would love to hear from anyone connected with these operations and have already had the opportunity to chat with one of you, the son of an Op. Pistol SAS man, this morning - thank you Graham!

Additionally, I would be interested to hear from anyone who's been to the village of Moussey (Vosges region of Alsace-Lorraine) or areas nearby as I plan to visit in September and would be interested in knowing the best way to travel, nice places to stay, locals who are connected with the mission or dates they have remembrance parades etc.

Other areas of focus include Wivenhoe House (2SAS HQ, Colchester), RAF Ringway and methods of recruitment into the SAS in WW2. If you are a uniform, kit and weaponry buff - reveal yourself! Also anyone with particular knowledge of parachuting (WW2 style) eg. leg bag problems, release buckles, packing, types of aircraft used in training and drops and so forth, please drop me a line.

I know a fair amount about several of the Loyton men and know some of their families and I look forward to sharing some of that knowledge with you. My own background is HAC and some of you may know something of our role in the regiment (at least when I was there in the 90s).

I look forward to getting to know you all in due course.

Best wishes,

TomPC
