Dear Guys,

Pretty sure my dad was no hero lol bit of a bad azz but i have many pictures of him and friends in malaya during the war if anyone knew him plse let me know. He is still alive but we are estranged id like to know a little of his past and the part in the war. Anyone knowing Ivan Mico tho im not totally sure that was his name at the time plse contact me. One thing i clearly remember is that he said an officer entered their camp and was horrified they didnt have similar uniforms. Another is that an officer made them force new recruits in full combat gear to swim across a wide well they got most but a few drowned. Plse contact me if u remember this. Last thought they were on patrol when a huge tiger jumped in front of them they dropped weapons and ran i thought this rather funny.

Daughter of many a story,

Hi Karen, This is the proverbial million to one chance of this happening but, it has!! I am also looking for info on Ivan Mico as I used to know him when he was in the Parachute Regiment back in the 50's while he was based in Aldershot. No, I'm not ex para or special forces, I'm just an ex Royal Navy guy. So you're not wondering if I'm genuine, I know that Ivan was born in 1932 and he had two children from his first marriage so I hope you'll respond.

Hi Karen, I think it was you who tried to contact me on Tuesday 25th but you didn't identify yourself so I'm still hoping you want to make contact and discuss. Please respond via this thread if you need to. Mike

As the author of the original post (Karen Smith) has not responded maybe I can reach out to this community to ask if anyone knew Ivan Mico during the 50's either from the Paras or Malayan Scouts or into the 60's or later when I understand he changed his name which, although I know it, I won't post it here for reasons of privacy. Please get back to me if you can help. Thank you. Mike
