James Stephenson 644 squadron

Hi everyone
I'm desperately trying to find out anything about my Dad who served with 644 squadron as a F/Sgt Engineer. I know he towed gliders on various special operations over France, Italy, Norway, the Azores, Egypt and Palestine and had to parchute out over Norway twice. Other than that I cannot find out anything - the gentleman who has compiled a history of 644 can find no trace of him or other members of his crew. They were F/O Charlton, F/O Lewis, F/O Hooper, F/Sgt Page and F/Sgt Banks. After the war Dad refused to collect his medals and rarely talked about the war, never what he had done.
I have a tapestry which he sewed during the war showing a Halifax towing a glider. I have attached it to this. As you can see it shows the 644 call sign 2-P and a curious flight logo on the front - an Imp ? with a crown ?
Can anyone help please ?
Thank you
Gill

F/O Charlton was my Uncle and I may be able to put you in touch with his family who could have some relevant information.
Regards
Joe
