William (Bill) Reuben Arnold was my uncle and served in L detachment and 1st SAS regiment from 1939 until 1946. Unfortunatly I never managed to meet him and he died in 2000, only thing I have is his obituary with photo.

I have read about six books and I think I have found his army number and he was a Tpr departing from UK to Germany 10.4.45 but cant be sure because there was at least another Arnold in the regiment in the early years.

Would like to know where he went and try to pick him out of some photos, could anyone offer any advice on how to investigate.

Thanks Paul Arnold

Hi Paul,
If you are sure of his army number then you can request his Military records from Glasgow, this is where all Military records are held. This link will take you to the site and follow the instructions on their page. Any problems then PM me.

Another avenue is the SAS Regimental Journal. If you require details then PM me.

kind regards,

David
