Maj Leary instructed the ROTC Ranger unit at the University of Alaska in the 1966 -- 1967 school year -- he was a captain at time. That was after a tour of duty in Vietnam as a junior officer of an A team. I received my Ranger beret in the spring of 1967. He was an inspirational leader!!!! I transferred to another university in the fall of 1967, so I'm unsure how long he was at the U of Alaska.
