CITATION:
Bronze Star : Private First Class, 505th Parachute Infantry, for heroic conduct in connection with military operations against the enemy for the period of 13 September 1944 to 8 May 1945 in ITALY, NORMANDY, HOLLAND, BELGIUM and GERMANY. His skill and courage were exemplified in the *** area of the VOLTURNO River, ITALY, Private First Class LUSTER, with the other men, pulled a captured 37mm anti-tank gun to a defensive position to cover an important road block. In order to do this, Private First Class LUSTER, a demolitionist, cleared a way through an enemy mine field. Disregarding heavy enemy artillery fire, Private First Class LUSTER continued his work until he had made a clear path for the gun to pass through. His courageous performance of hazardous duty has always been a credit to himself and to the United States Airborne Forces.
