CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Floyd E. Narramore (MCSN: 483434), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving with the First Marine Parachute Battalion during actions against numerically superior enemy Japanese forces near Koi-ari, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, on November 29, 1943. When intense hostile sniper fire concentrated on his platoon's position. Private First Class Narramore, completely disregarding his personal safety, rushed forward of his own front lines where he could bring fire to bear on the Japanese snipers in order to permit the removal of two of his wounded comrades. Successful in his daring tactics, Private First Class Narramore silenced the hostile machine-gun sniper fire but sacrificed his life in the action. His valiant fighting spirit in the face of grave peril was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.
