Hi kiltie1,
You can put a request into the Regimental Journal 'Pegasus' and ask your question there, have you tried to contact the Regiment, http://paracharity.org/pegasus-journal/ if he was KIA over there then he will most definitely have been documented and details kept on record. If you do not have his military records you can request them, although the delay just now is a staggering year wait? I know as i have some pending and I'm at 7 months wait just now. This link will advise.

I'm unsure if Silent valley cemetery has an attendant/official, but worth a search, you can always ask for a search their side?..Keep the forum posted regarding your research, it's always good to update records.

kind regards,

David

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for your reply, a veteran who was also there at the same time as Robert has contacted me and is in the process of dealing with the relevant MoD office who can do this search in 4-5 days, as soon as I hear anything back I'll post right away on this site. I had called an office in Glasgow, and as you quite rightly pointed out their waiting list is a year or over due to the volume of enquiries plus £30 search fee, not that the money matters.

Kind Regards

Linda

Hi Linda,
Information relating to Bertie. His Remains were later repatriated back to the United Kingdom where he was given a second military funeral

He now lies at rest at the Holmston Road Cemetery in Ayr Scotland

Hi Dave,
I should have informed you earlier, the cemetery office in Ayr contacted me to inform me of this, initially they had only searched 1965 (Bert's death date) he was repatriated in 1966. At present I am trying to locate a photo of Bertie and have a couple of possibilities, if this search works out I will contact you a.s.a.p. Many thanks Dave and Happy New Year.
Linda
