CITATION:
Silver Star : The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to John Stebbins, Specialist, U.S. Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against hostile enemy forces while Company B, 75th Infantry Regiment (Ranger), during combat operations in Mogadishu, Somalia, on 3 and 4 October 1993. Serving as a Company Clerk, Specialist Stebbins was part of the rescue operations following the crash of two Black Hawk helicopters in the streets of Mogadishu. His actions were in keeping with the finest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Army.
