SERVICE HISTORY:

Henry Straw was my mother's brother. He was born in Coalville and lived with his mother and his siblings on Ashby Road, Coalville, until he joined the Warwickshire Regiment.
At some point, probably in India, he was transferred to the 1st Kings Regiment (Liverpool) who were part of the Chindits in Burma. According to a newspaper clipping that we have, he and a colleague were last seen defending a hill when the troops were evacuating the area called "Blackpool". After the evacuation, he was reported as missing. His war medals were awarded posthumously.

Thanks for info, found newspaper article on him too and have updated his record with D.O.B., etc.
