Any info gratefully recieved. All I can find so far is a picture in the IWM on him on a Jeep. Can anybody point in the direction of better websites or archieves where I can find out more on his war history and activities??

I have a record of a Trooper O. Jeavons S/No. 6148301 of the East Surrey Regt. on Operation Howard during 1945 in North West Europe. He departed from the U.K. on the 6th of April 1945.
I back tracked but couldn't find him in a nominal roll for the S.R.S. in 1943 so it could be he joined post '43.
Although I don't at present think this is connected but men originally from the East Surrey's served with No.4 Commando and went with No.7 Commando (quite a few men failed to return to No.7 from embarkation leave due to the bad weather conditions so men from No.4 were drafted in to replace their number) to the Middle East in 1941 as part of Layforce, it could be then he was a Commando as well but without his service details it would be a very long shot to say yes.
It could take a long time to get his records but you could write to the SAS Regimental Association to see if they have a record of him.
Hope this will of some use to you.
Kind regards,
Alan.
