CITATION:
Bronze Star : for heroic conduct from 6 to 11 April 1945 near ***, GERMANY, Private First Class WRIGHT, scout, displayed great heroism and aggressiveness as a member of two combat patrols which crossed the RHINE River with the mission of reconnaissance and identification. On one night patrol, while attempting to capture two enemy, Private First Class WRIGHT engaged in hand to hand combat and found it necessary to kill one of them. On another night, while on a similar mission, Private First Class WRIGHT attempted to capture an enemy sentry. He displayed quick thinking and soldierly ability as one of the enemy brought an automatic weapon into action. Private First Class WRIGHT shot him in the act, undoubtedly saving the lives of his comrades. His courage and aggressiveness were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Airborne Forces of the United States Army.
