George Doundoulakis was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1921. When he was four, his family emigrated to Crete, Greece. After the Battle of Crete, George led a resistance organization with the help of the SOE, from 1941 to 1943. He was instrumental in planning and carrying out numerous sabotages, such as the bombing of the Kastelli Airfield. Most notably, he obtained information resulting in the destruction of a German convoy that left Crete on September 26, 1942 destined for North Africa. With this
