I would like to thank John Robertson for all this information. A very very lot of hard work as gone into to all this research. Thank you so very much.
My uncle was in 8th bn unit and was kia 6.6.44.
Have asked Family members about a photo of my uncle that once hung at home but nobody knows its where abouts(sad)
I am trying to find out as much as i can about him but kept coming up against a blank wall until i found this web site yesterday. I looked in the ROH but couldent find him until i clicked on someone of the same surname and it was him because i regonised my grandparents name and where they come from. The name i had for him was a family nick name.
A bit confused though when it said 8th bn, would that be within the parachute regiment. Was wondering wher he would have orignally been staioned and where he would have trained. Would their be anybody with us today who was also the 8th bn??
Thank you once again for all your hard work.
Ruth

The Pegasus Archive is a fabulous site for all things Parachute Regiment related.
You could also call in at the Para Archive at Duxford and for a donation, look at all the documents they have there.
Regards,
Helen

The 8th Bn Parachute Regiment has a website. A friend of mine father (Sgt Evans), died from wounds sustained on 6/6/1944 and the Secretary kindly sent this gentleman the Battalion war diary for that day.
Hope this is of some use to you.
Regards
Kevin
