    Is your grandfather still alive? I wonder if he knew my relative Lieutenant Colonel leigh Alexander. He was killed in action in the first Chindit expedition, Op Longcloth, 28 April 1943.

    perhaps I can take a new tack on this quest. LCol Alexander was Indian nationality and fought with an Indian brigade (77th Indian Infantry). Can anybody recommend authorities in India who are expert searchers on military history, the Burma campaign, Chindits or otherwise? John
