Hi,

I am trying to find out information and to see if I can locate any images of my great uncle David Lambie. He was a commando and part of operation Bigamy in September 1942. At this point he was captured as the operation did not go to plan.

He was later drowned at sea when the POW ship Nino Brixio was hit by torpedoes from a British submarine in January 1942.

if anyone can assist with this I would appreciate it greatly,

best wishes,

Paul Brunton

Dear Paul,

If you contact me on skipodonovan@gmail.com I have some information on your great uncle's military service. Unfortunately I dont have a photo of him but do have a photo of his name engraved on the El Alamein memorial if you would like that.

Regards,

Skip

David is also remembered on his parents' headstone in Ayr cemetery but you have probably seen this already.
He opened the first health club in Ayr.I've seen the notice of his death in the Ayr Advertiser files but no photo was included.

David died in January 1943 when as a POW on Italian destroyer Bombardier his ship was torpedoed by British submarine and he drowned. Photos of him in his boxing outfit widely available on internet.
