Where and how can I find out about my 2 uncles service
in the commando's in WW2.
They were both based at Troon.
One was called John Landsborough
One was called Fred Peacock.
They were both at the D day landings and Uncle John was also sent to Burma after that as well.
I have no numbers or anything and all my family are deceased who would have any information regarding them.

Hi Tom

I have just made a search of the Commando Veterans Association forum messages and neither of your uncles is shown as being mentioned in previous forum messages. You could try posting a message in their forum :
http://www.commandoveterans.org/site/

However I would suggest as you have limited details that you try every relative that you have for photos of them, dates of birth, and perhaps just as important - what regiment they were in prior to joining the Commandos. Their full names and dates of birth are a minimum requirement for applying for their war service records. As to how to apply the CVA has a forum with all that information included.

Best of luck

Pete
