John - My grandfathers brother Fred Senior was very good friends with Stanley Bolland. They were both Scots Guards and their regimental numbers are sequential so they must have joined up together. I have a photograph album of Freds that has a number of photos of Stanley in North Africa during their time in 8 commando. If you check out the photos on this site you will see some of them. I have more I can send you. I'm not sure if you know but Stanley went on to join L detachment SAS and was MIA on the famous failed parachute raids on the landing strips at Gazala and Tmimi. I think Fred was quite up set about this as in his photo album I think there is a kind of tribute to him. Stanley gets a brief mention in the book "The Originals" by Gordon Stevens. If you PM me I can provide my e-mail address and i can send what information I have. Best wishes, Sam
