Buel Lee Melton was born in Lorena, Oklahoma 8 Mar 1909. He was the son of Robert Lee Melton and Ada Savage Melton and one of 13 children. He moved with his family from Oklahoma to the Texas panhandle in about 1923. He was first married to Helen S. Clemens in about 1928, she was the niece of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). He was divorced from Helen Clemens about 1938, and married Vencie
