the gentleman on the left is WW Beynon, Team Clarence and Stanley. Willard explained to me that he did not smoke, but the photographer used them as props to make the boys look older. They are training with a Piat gun in England. Willard completed two missions in Holland and went on to serve in CBI with 8 man special forces teams working against Japanese supply routes and missions to take out Japanese officers.
