Correction In Back: Joe Markowitz is holding the Bazooka, next to him Robert Persuitti, in the back right is Frank Lockwood,
Front left is Sandy Martin and front right is John Loschiavo. Many have named them incorrectly but Descendants of WWII Rangers has a photo with the correct list written by a fellow 5th Ranger.

Thank you for the correction. I have seen this image mislabeled many times online. Joe was my neighbor. He was like an Uncle to me. I called him Uncle Joe. He and his wife never had children, so they would watch us when I was young. Can confirm as well that he is the one with the Bazooka. He shared many stories with me when I was younger, scaling the cliffs on Omaha beach, as he described, receiving his purple heart and being taken as a POW, escaping when the German guards fled across the Swiss border. I was among the first if not the only people he shared his war stories with. He hadn't even shared them with his wife. What is written here looks correct as well. It's funny because in photo there is a pack of Lucky Strikes in the frame but he never smoked (not him holding it). In all of my years of knowing Joe, I had never once heard him complain, about anything. I'm happy to have found this page.
