COMP AIR 7SL (REGISTRATION: YI-12) // BELONGING TO IRAQ AIR FORCE
Four U.S. Air Force servicemembers and one Iraqi airman died in the Iraqi military aircraft crash in Iraq's eastern Diyala province May 30, coalition officials reported today.
The Comp Air 7SL aircraft belonged to the 3rd Squadron of the Iraqi Air Force and is a single-engine aircraft used for surveillance and personnel transport. The Iraqi Air Force had seven of these aircraft in its inventory.
The crash occurred near Jalula, about 50 miles northeast of Baqubah. The aircraft departed Kirkuk Air Base on an operational mission to Jalula.
