SGT Billy M. Brister, SP4 Fred H. Osburn, and PFC Anthony D. Hatcher were members of C Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. On May 22, 1968, they were fatally injured while in their billet at base camp when a grenade accidently detonated.
