I am visiting Alimnia in October and would like to write an article for a magazine about the Alimnia incident. Do you have any information that you would be willing to share with me?

John

I came across this forum after surching my nans brother, R A JONES
Manys storys were told to me over the years and for some reason i surched his name in google and this came up.
He was also present in the Alimnia patorl.
My grandmother also have information regarding many of the sircumstance.
Regarding Private Augustus George Evans
They have shown me a photo of his Parents along with Jones parents, collecting medals on there behalf.
Can anyone please contact me with anymore information on this matter.
If an artical has been written can I please be made aware of it.

Hi Skip, for some reason in 2009 and to goodness knows when I was not getting alerts to messages and have only just seen this almost 5 years after as I browse the pages for posts about the Alimnia mission. So Sorry and thank you for the offer. I do have his citation.

Have you read Gavin Mortimer's new book SBS in WW2? I am delighted to see so much about my uncle George in it and so many of our family photos and documents. Their story is told at last :)

Thank again,

Holly

Hi Shakyjayuk , I think we have spoken before and I sent you a lot of information regarding Ray Jones. I would dearly love a copy of the photo of Pte Augustus George Evans' parents with Ray Jones' parents collecting their medals. It would mean so much to me if you can ask to see the photo again and copy it.

Kind regards,

Holly

Hi John

I am only just replying to messages I received several years ago. Not quite sure why I wasn't getting message alerts.

The new Gavin Mortimer book SBS in WW2 is a good read and contains much about my uncle George. Thanks for your message.
