CITATION:
Mention in Despatches : Oran Landings. Assault on port by H.M.S. WALNEY and H.M.S. HARTLAND - 8th November 1942
When H.M.S. HARTLAND had been hit several times, the coolness and cheerfulness of this N.C.O. set a fine example to member of the Ship's crew. He displayed great energy in fighting the fires, and later when the Carley float was abandoned, he brought at least two drowning Americans to safety.
